Description:
Abandoned Narratives uses mathematical randomization to create a never ending rotation of narrative, imagery and content. There was a time when I tried to create video works that would explore traditional narrative and storytelling. This piece is a combination of two earlier single channel pieces I had entitled ‘Garden of Paradise’ and ‘Odyssey’ that I was never satisfied with. However, I was still drawn to the image quality and felt the work had merit. I realized the potential narrative in each image was more interesting to me than the linear narrative as a whole. In realizing this, I decided to create a piece in which narratives would begin to be made and then disintegrate. Thus title has both a literal and metaphorical meaning.
